Salma Zeb

I belong to a remote district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan namely Dir. The district was hard hit during 'Talibanization' and militancy followed by a war which ended in 2009. I have appeared in several human rights and women's inheritance rights cases in courts and defended several women in their matrimonial disputes. My district and region have no land settlement and women are generally deprived of their inheritance rights. The district and the region is extremely conservative and narrow minded when it comes to women. My focuses on community legal empowerment particularly women and other marginalized groups through legal awareness and media campaigns, mobile legal aid clinics, legal advice and consultations at door step, establishment of a referral system to connect communities with the legal aid desks.
